Anushkaa Foundation India is a registered non-profit organisation.
We are working to address theproblem of untreated clubfoot in India.
Our objective is a pan India coverage of clubfoot treatmentClubfoot is a congenital birth defect wherein one or both the feet are turned inwards, making it aleading cause of disability in children in the developing world.
Based on a survey that wasconducted, it is found that only 13% of the children in low- and middle-income countries have accessto quality clubfoot treatment.Clubfoot has an incidence rate of 1 in 800 births making it one of the largest causes of disability inchildren in the developing world.
In India approximately 33,000 children are born with clubfootevery year i.e.
almost 19% of the total global clubfoot births.Untreated clubfoot makes it painful and difficult to walk, and such patients are at a higher risk ofdiscrimination, neglect, sexual and physical abuse, isolation, abandonment, loss of opportunitiesincluding education and several other negative socio-economic effects on their lives.
Young girls withdisabilities become much more vulnerable and are at higher risks of being negatively affected.Anushkaa Foundation India is present in 10 states namely Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh,Haryana, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka.Anushkaa Foundation India implements its program in partnership with the government and fewcharitable/trust hospitals.We are led by experts in the field of non-profit management and a board of directors.
In India, weoperate and administer our own clubfoot programs in partnership with the Government, as well aswith charitable and private hospitals.Anushkaa Foundation India’s program offerings include:1) Clubfoot Clinics: We establish weekly clubfoot clinic day(s) in government and/or charitablehospitals to ensure that parents of children with clubfoot have access at a reasonabledistance and time. 2) Medical Training: Training healthcare workers and practitioners in the PonsetiMethod. Training is provided by orthopaedic doctors who are experts in the Ponseti Methodand have years of experience in treating clubfoot. 3) Awareness Activities: We leverage government health system like the RBSK team andcommunity health workers for awareness, identification and subsequent referral of clubfootaffected children to our clinics.4) Counselling: Effective counselling and parent support go a long way in treatment adherenceand dropout prevention.
We provide counselling in-clinic, telephonically and through homevisits. 5) Foot Abduction Braces: We provide free foot abduction braces.
Braces are an essentialaspect of the maintenance phase of the treatment. Anushkaa Foundation India App caters these major functions:i) The app will help PEs track patient record and hence ensure compliance to treatmentii) Include details of outreach activities like home visits, meeting with stake holdersincluding RBSK officials, health workersiii) Inventory managementiv) Clinic wise performance monitoringv) Include other aspects of program
